Welcome to our Podcast series from The Super Network with The Ozploit Cast! This podcast series is all about Ozploitation Cinema! If you don’t know what that is, it is exploitation films from the land Down Under! That’s right, Australia from the 70’s to now have been making exploitation films from all genres with horror, comedy, sc-fi, thriller, erotic and action to name a few.
Bede Jermyn and Super Marcey are your hosts for The Ozploit Cast and are back for Episode 07 of the show. There has been a slight delay with this episode (originally scheduled for December) due to scheduling conflicts and the holiday season but the first episode of 2022 is finally! This month Bede and Marcey look at 5 films to continue their journey through the land of Ozploitation cinema with Deathcheaters (1976), Oz: A Rock ‘N’ Roll Road Movie (1976), End Play (1976), Fantasm Comes Again (1977) and The FJ Holden (1977).
Deathcheaters Synopsis: Two best friends, Vietnam War veterans-turned-stuntmen, are sent as spies to the Philippines on a top secret mission for the Australian government.
Oz: A Rock ‘N’ Roll Road Movie Synopsis: Dorothy is a 16-year-old groupie riding with an up-and-coming rock band when, suddenly, their van is in a road accident, and she hits her head. She wakes up in an alternate reality that’s as gritty and realistic as the one she came from, and learns that she killed a young thug with the van. Glynn the Good Fairy gives her a pair of red shoes as a reward to help her see the last concert of the Wizard, a David Bowie style rock singer, in the city of Melbourne that evening. She is pursued by the thug’s brother who attempts to assault her on several occasions. During her journey, she becomes the traveling companion of a dumb surfer, a heartless mechanic, and a tough biker.
End Play Synopsis: When a hitchhiker is picked up and murdered by an unseen assailant, two brothers both become suspects, all the while increasing their tensions between them as they both pursue their half-cousin, Margaret.
Fantasm Comes Again Synopsis: An intern and a professional writer at a newspaper agency read ten letters sent to their sexual advice column detailing the erotic escapades of various women.
The FJ Holden Synopsis: Bankstown, NSW, Australia, 1970s. Kevin and his mate Bob spend their time drinking and cruising around the western suburbs of Sydney in Kevin’s yellow FJ Holden, looking for girls. One day Kevin meets Anne. Anne works in a large shopping center. Anne and Kevin spend some time together until one day Kevin gets drunk and tries to make love to Anne with Bob watching. Anne throws them out of her house. When Anne later refuses to be pacified, Kevin becomes aggressive and causes a scene at a party. The police are called. Kevin escapes but later returns home to find the police waiting there for him.
