Director: Goro Miyazaki The Film: I swear Studio Ghibli will be the death of me because all of the hope that is welling up inside of me is threatening to spill out of every orifice in my body. How’s that for a mental picture? 😀 “From Up On Poppy Hill” is another ace in the … Continue reading

Episode 2 of Comic Book Heroes starts off where the first part left off, we are with the gang of Gestalt at Comic Con and their books haven’t arrived. The stress is on and our hearts are racing, and just when we thought disaster was going to strike, the books arrive and they make it … Continue reading

Welcome back to this feature at SuperMarcey.com called ‘The Super Five’. This is a different take on the ‘Top 10’ or ‘List’ style features, where I take a subject and simply name five things. It isn’t a top list, just simply five things for your enjoyment! Rewatching Star Trek: The Next Generation over the last … Continue reading

First, just let me get this off my chest. UNLEASH THE BEAST!!!!!!! I think I was in the freakish minority who didn’t hate “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” as much as the general public did. It was heavily flawed and a hodgepodge of good ideas that were unrealised or under-developed, but was it terrible in the sense … Continue reading

Seems odd that the advertising material for this film seems to shine on the fact that Linda Lovelace is known for starring in a porn film, and her story is anything but shining on the porn industry. However that element (her anti-porn crusade) is left out of this film and it instead decides to show … Continue reading

I now have a strong candidate for Worst Film Of 2013, PAIN & GAIN is one of the most awful films I have seen recently. It was a task to sit through and that feels like a compliment. Michael Bay is a very hit and miss director, I do believe his best days are very … Continue reading
There is no reason in downplaying my adoration for the story and character of Dracula considering half of my reviews on the super wonderful SuperMarcey.com have been devoted by the various incarnations of the tale, so I won’t. I love Dracula. He has been in my life before I was even born and he was … Continue reading

Unlike the majority of the Internet, I never saw the trailer for “The Conjuring”- I knew of it, I knew it’s basic gist, but I didn’t actually watch it on YouTube or saw it in the theatre prior to it’s release. I was exposed to several movie posters, all of which had a suitably creepy … Continue reading
PRINCE AVALANCHE, THE PAST and AIM HIGH IN CREATION! In this 11th and final edition of my 2013 MIFF video reviews, I share my thoughts on director David Gordon Green’s return to indie filmmaking with PRINCE AVALANCHE, the new film from Oscar winning A SEPARATION director Asghar Farhadi THE PAST and the fascinating and hilarious Aussie documentary … Continue reading

“Sinister (2012)” Looking at this poster for Scott Derrickson’s latest fright flick “Sinister”, you can’t help but say “generic” because that’s exactly how it looks- creepy child with long hair smearing blood across a wall that just happens to form a demonic face. We’ve seen this been done hundreds upon thousands of millions of times … Continue reading
