2017 Melbourne Queer Expo Round-Up

Hey guys! Over the weekend of July 15th and 16th, Melbourne held its first ever annual event Queer Expo, a new expo that would mark as a celebration of diversity and equality in both the LGBT community and popular culture. While we were only able to attend only just for the one day over the weekend long event, we still had an absolute great time being there to experience it. While the event itself was much smaller than I thought it would be terms of both layout and scope (it was held at one of the smaller buildings at the Melbourne Showgrounds), it actually made the event feel like a far more intimate and communal experience when compared to other big pop culture expos. All the attendees and I really enjoyed everything that the expo had to offer. There was a fare amount of great TV/film guests, stalls, artists, writers and so much more that the organisers was able to bring together for the launch of Queer Expo. Even a lot of the guests had their own booths as well so that they could sell merchandise and greet with their fans.

One of the things I enjoyed most about the expo was the great Q&A and panel sessions that were organised. I was able to sit in on a few of them and they were all really entertaining and insightful. Especially with the guests that appeared on the TV series RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE. Later on during the day, the organisers put on a Drag Competition where many of Melbourne’s best drag queen performers competed together. The entire audience had a blast with it and it was a lot of fun seeing them all perform. Overall the first Queer Expo was a success and we here at the Super Network had a really fun time covering it. We’d like to extend our thanks to the organisers, staff, PR team and volunteers for putting on a wonderful show.

Here is our photo coverage of the event, which contains some celebrity photos, autographs and other fun stuff we did at Queer Expo:
