-Correction; the film was made in 1972 and the director was Robert Young. By the way, there is now a novelization set in contemporary times. It was serviceable, but part of what made the film work so well was the time period of the 1600’s. Everything felt so isolated in the film that to have it happen in modern day just didn’t have the same OOMPH to it. Oh well.
