Welcome to our Podcast series from The Super Network with The Ozploit Cast! This podcast series is all about Ozploitation Cinema! If you don’t know what that is, it is exploitation films from the land Down Under! That’s right, Australia from the 70’s to now have been making exploitation films from all genres with horror, comedy, sc-fi, thriller, erotic and action to name a few. The podcast started with Wake In Fright and each episode covers five films in release order.
Bede Jermyn and Super Marcey are your hosts for The Ozploit Cast and are here for Episode 12 along with returning guest Sam Inglis (Fearless Pretender: The Jennifer Jason Leigh Podcast) to discuss another five Ozploitation films. The podcast is now knee deep into the 1980’s era of Ozploitation and the films up for discussion are Hoodwink (1981), Centrespread (1981), Race for the Yankee Zephyr (1981), Roadgames (1981) and Dead Kids aka Strange Behavior (1981).
A couple of things, both Bede and Marcey would like to apologise for the extended hiatus of the show, there were a lot of scheduling and health issues, however we are back and the show should be back to being released monthly. Also The Ozploit Cast is now an award winning podcast! That’s right, earlier this year The Ozploit Cast Episode 9 was nominated for and won The Jim Murphy Broadcast Award (Electronic Media) from AFCA – Australian Film Critics Association. Hoodwink Synopsis: True story about a jailed bank robber who pretends he’s become blind to get an early release. Cops don’t believe him, but a lonely minister’s wife arrives to teach him how to live with his “condition”. They fall in love. Big mistake.
Centrespread Synopsis: The Story of a photographer’s struggle in the glamorous world of nude modeling.
Race for the Yankee Zephyr Synopsis: A drunken deer hunter, his pilot colleague and his daughter compete with a villainous treasure hunter to reach a lake nestled among the mountains of New Zealand, where a WWII-era plane wreck carrying a fortune in gold is submerged.
Roadgames Synopsis: A laid-back American truck driver in south Australia suspects that the driver of a green van is killing young women along his route, and plays a game of cat-and-mouse to catch him.
Dead Kids aka Strange Behavior Synopsis: A scientist is experimenting with teenagers and turning them into murderers.
