Join your co-hosts ‘Super’ Marcey and the ‘Terrible Australian’ Bede Jermyn as they take a a look at the adaptations of Silver Bullet (1985) and The Running Man (1987) plus the horror anthology Tales From The Dark Side: The Movie (1990) with an adaptation of King’s short story for the segment Cat From Hell. They are joined by returning guest Rob Hunter from Film School Rejects and first time guest Josh Plock from House Of Geekery.
Silver Bullet is an adaptation of the novella Cycle Of The Werewolf by King, with a script from King, it was directed by Daniel Attias and it stars Corey Haim, Gary Busey, Everett McGill, Megan Follows, Terry O’Quinn, Robin Groves and Leon Russom. The film is about a small town that is suffering from random killings, a young boy is convinced it is the work of a werewolf.
The Running Man is an adaptation of the novel of the same name that King wrote under the Richard Bachman pseudonym, from a script by Steven E. de Souza, directed by Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky from Starsky And Hutch), it stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto, Jim Brown, Jesse Ventura, Mick Fleetwood and Richard Dawson. The film takes place in dystopian America, where freedoms are non existent, and the most popular thing is a game show called The Running Man where contestants must fight to survive.
Tales From The Dark Side: The Movie is a horror anthology film, with the Cat From Hell based on King’s short story and the script for the segment was written by George A. Romero, the film was directed by John Harrison and stars Deborah Harry, Matthew Lawrence, Christian Slater, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, David Johansen, William Hickey, Rae Dawn Chong and James Remar. A witch kidnaps a young boy to cook and serve up for dinner, while making preparations the boy reads stories to the witch called Tales From The Dark Side.
