Meet your new Superman!

Yes ladies and gentlemen, the ‘in the works’ Superman film by Zack Snyder has found it’s star. Henry Cavill from Great Britain is our new Superman/Clark Kent. I do not know much about the man, which is the way I like my Superman. I definitely prefer a more obscure choice, as it has been done in the past. I honestly can say I trust Snyder and his judgment, while I was hesitant about Watchmen being such a devoted fan. He actually proved me wrong, and his casting turned out to be fantastic. He managed to remake a much loved horror film, make it his own and it being one of the better remakes to come out in recent times.

Now I am hearing a lot of complaints about Henry Cavill, not because of any ability or talent he has. But because he is not American. I think that is a rubbish argument, base the choice on his abilities and his looks. Because I am sure he will do a great job, Snyder looked for someone who could embody both Superman and Clark Kent. Keep in mind, Kal-El/Superman/Clark Kent is not American. He hails from another planet, Krypton. He IS an American icon, as well as an icon for the world. Should it really matter what country the actor playing him comes from? I think not! That’s what an actor does, he acts! That is like saying Superman comics should only be written and drawn by Americans … Gary Frank who is one of the most amazing Superman artists, isn’t American. Should he be banned because he’s British … I think not.
