Keeping with this month’s horror theme for the website, I have decided to compile a list of my personal Top 5 Creepiest Film Characters. These are the Top 5 characters which creep me out the most, while everyone has their own fears and different things which creep them out, these are mine. These characters give me chills, and and they disturb the heck outta me. Read on for my list and my reasons behind those picks.
Top 5 Creepiest Film Characters
5.) Asami Yamazaki (Eihi Shiina) from the film Audition

Audition is a film which completely destroyed me upon my first and only viewing of it. This is thanks mostly to Asami, a character so terrifying that I actually had trouble sleeping that night. The creepiness sets in here, when her true motives are finally revealed, through most of the film she is a normal, charming woman. The horror that follows, the things she does, I have trouble writing about, it is something that affected me. She truly is one of cinema’s creepiest and disturbing characters.
4.) Francis Dollarhyde/The Tooth Fairy (Tom Noonan) from the film Manhunter

While people might argue that Buffalo Bill is a disturbing character (and he is) the one that left the lasting impression on me was Dollarhyde. But the Dollarhyde from Mann’s Manhunter (Not Ratner’s Red Dragon), as played to creepy perfection by Tom Noonan. Upon my first viewing of the film, he sent chills down my spine, seemingly a normal dude, he has many secrets to hide. I can’t watch Manhunter without getting seriously scared and creeped out by Dollarhyde The Tooth Fairy.
3.) John Ryder (Rutger Hauer) from the film The Hitcher

Maybe Rutger is just a creepy guy, but the character he portrayed in The Hitcher has got to be the creepiest of them all. From the start of the film, you can see there is something not quite right about him. He oozes psycho right from the get go and he does not let up until the very end. This film still disturbs me, and he is one creepy guy, this character has made me scared to see someone on the side of the road wanting a ride. Amazing performance, he created something unique and what nightmares are made of.
2.) Krug (David Hess) from the film The Last House On The Left

From the very first time I watched this film, the thing that actually stuck with me the most was not the horrific events, but Krug. David Hess is flawless in this role, and if I had to film scenes opposite him I wouldn’t have needed to be ordered to ‘piss my pants’. This is a character with no humanity left, he will hurt and kill anyone who stands in his way. Krug is truly frightening, one of cinema’s creepiest antagonists and crazed killers. It’s only a movie, it’s only a movie.
1.) Henry (Michael Rooker) from the film Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer

Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer still remains number 1 on my most disturbing films list. It is because of the central character of Henry, what he is and the feelings I always get when watching him. If you didn’t know what he was capable of, he seems like a regular guy, someone you could easily be friends with. This alone creeps me out, it scares me so much, it really hits hard when he tortures and kills. And then he goes back to being normal, as if nothing had happened. This is a character that continues to give me nightmares, and it will forever haunt me. Michael Rooker in my opinion gives one of the best performances in cinema history as Henry.
I thought Mariah Carey was terror incarnate in Glitter. Had nightmares for days.

It’s not a horror movie but the film character who’s most creeped me out over the years is The Joker from The Dark Knight. The intensity of his insanity freaks me out and even now I still get chills watching him.
