Welcome to our Podcast series from The Super Network with The Ozploit Cast! This podcast series is all about Ozploitation Cinema! If you don’t know what that is, it is exploitation films from the land Down Under! That’s right, Australia from the 70’s to now have been making exploitation films from all genres with horror, comedy, sc-fi, thriller, erotic and action to name a few. The podcast started with Wake In Fright and each episode covers five films in release order.

Bede Jermyn and Super Marcey are your hosts for The Ozploit Cast and are here for Episode 16 along with first time guest Ryan Kendall (Imprint Cast, Indicator Cast & YouTube) to discuss another five Ozploitation films! Up for discussion this month are five films from 1983 with The Return of Captain Invincible (1983), Hostage (1983), BMX Bandits (1983), Innocent Prey (1984) and Melvin: Son of Alvin (1984). Although Innocent Prey was filmed and ready in 1983/1984 it wasn’t released until 1991, we have placed it here as it was finished in ’84. There is a wild range of films and lot’s to discuss, listen in and enjoy!

The Return of Captain Invincible Synopsis: During WWII, Captain Invincible fought against Nazis using superpowers. Later falsely accused of communism, he retires in Australia. When a secret US weapon gets stolen, he’s called back but struggles with alcoholism.
Hostage Synopsis: Horrific true tale set in late-1970s Australia and later West Germany about an abused wife who learns in horror that her sadistic German-born husband is actually a fanatical neo-Nazi.
BMX Bandits Synopsis: A trio of teen BMX enthusiasts become entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering their cache of walkie-talkies.
Innocent Prey Synopsis: A woman living in Dallas discovers that her husband, from New Zealand, is actually a crazed serial killer who murders prostitutes. She helps the authorities arrest him, and he is sent to a hospital for the criminally insane. Just when she’s starting to get her life back together, she learns that he’s escaped from the institution and is after her. She flees to Australia and winds up staying in a house owned by a wealthy young man, who turns out to have dark secrets of his own.
Melvin: Son of Alvin Synopsis: A shy young man is irresistible to women.

DISCLAIMER: Some of the films discussed in the podcast contain some much dated ideas, use terms that are offensive and mostly certainly not used today. Your hosts have done their best to be as respectful as possible when discussing these issues and have not intended any discussion to be offensive or harmful.
