Welcome to our Podcast series from The Super Network with The Ozploit Cast! This podcast series is all about Ozploitation Cinema! If you don’t know what that is, it is exploitation films from the land Down Under! That’s right, Australia from the 70’s to now have been making exploitation films from all genres with horror, comedy, sc-fi, thriller, erotic and action to name a few. The podcast started with Wake In Fright and each episode covers five films in release order.
Bede Jermyn and Super Marcey are your hosts for The Ozploit Cast and are here for Episode 15 along with returning guest Sam Inglis (Fearless Pretender: The Jennifer Jason Leigh Podcast) to discuss another five Ozploitation films! Up for discussion this month are five very different films, from the early 80s with Attack Force Z (1982), A Dangerous Summer (1982), Freedom (1982), Next of Kin (1982) and Midnite Spares (1983). Despite the films being different, they do have some similarities between each other, listen in and find out more!
Attack Force Z Synopsis: A group of Australian commandos launch a secret mission against Japanese forces in World War II.
A Dangerous Summer Synopsis: When a crummy hotel burns down in Australia, the American co-owner tries to find out whether or not the fire was deliberately set or just an accident.
Freedom Synopsis: Ron, a young man in his late teens or early 20s, but emotionally younger, has no visible, employable assets, yet rails at his status in life — blaming everyone for the fact that his dreams are not coming true.
Next of Kin Synopsis: In a rest home for elderly people, a daughter reads her mother’s diary. Soon events that are mentioned in the mother’s diary begin to happen to the daughter.
Midnite Spares Synopsis: After discovering that a group of car thieves may have something to do with his father’s untimely death, Steve pursues the criminals and attempts to capture them as well as prove his prowess as a racecar driver.
