Welcome to our Podcast series from The Super Network with The Ozploit Cast! This podcast series is all about Ozploitation Cinema! If you don’t know what that is, it is exploitation films from the land Down Under! That’s right, Australia from the 70’s to now have been making exploitation films from all genres with horror, comedy, sc-fi, thriller, erotic and action to name a few. The podcast started with Wake In Fright and each episode covers five films in release order.

Bede Jermyn and Super Marcey are your hosts for The Ozploit Cast and are here for Episode 14 with very special guest and first time guest on the show Pete from A Dingo Ate My Movie Podcast. The podcast is still in the early 80s of Ozploitation, with these five films have similarities but also a lot of differences. The films up for discussion this episode are Dead Easy (1982), The Killing of Angel Street (1981), Goodbye Paradise (1982), Running on Empty (1982) and Turkey Shoot (1982).

Dead Easy Synopsis: Three young friends trying to break into the entertainment business inadvertently anger a mob boss, setting in motion a chain of events that results in their being hunted by every thug and killer in town.
The Killing of Angel Street Synopsis: Jessica Simmonds returns from overseas to find her retired professor father in a bitter public fight to save the historic Sydney waterfront houses on Angel Street. After her father’s mysterious death, she joins forces with local residents and a union leader against corrupt forces. Based on the real life mysterious disappearance of Juanita Nielsen.
Goodbye Paradise Synopsis: On Queensland’s Gold Coast in the early 1980s, when a disgraced former cop, Michael Stacey writes a book exposing police corruption, does an investigation resulting in 2 murders, exposes a religious cult and watches the army begin a military coup.
Running on Empty Synopsis: Mike is a young man who is a budding street racer, and owner of a Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase III. His best mate and mechanic, Tony, are both steel workers by day, but when they aren’t working, they are racing.
Turkey Shoot Synopsis: In a dystopian future where deviants are held in “re-education” camps, a freedom fighter and an innocent prisoner try to survive their decadent oppressors’ game of kill-or-be-killed.

DISCLAIMER: Some of the films discussed in the podcast contain some much dated ideas, use terms that are offensive and mostly certainly not used today. Your hosts have done their best to be as respectful as possible when discussing these issues and have not intended any discussion to be offensive or harmful.
