The Columnist (2019) takes on the world of cyber bullying and the direct effects it has on those victims, however the film takes a dark twist. No longer are these cyber bullies invisible hiding behind a screen, they are sought out by the woman who they have targeted. This horror/comedy tackles a very serious subject, sticking to it’s guns so to speak with its message and highlighting just how bad someone can be mentally impacted by cyber bullying but also looking at a ‘what if’ scenario with those who troll no longer being anonymous in gruesome fashion. The message is strong, and this is an intriguing vision, blending together a tale that is ever so relevant in today’s culture.
