Oh, yeah! October is just about here and that means that one of favourite times of year is upon us once again. Yep, that’s right, everyone …It’s Halloween time! Like many horror fans out here all over the world, I’m going to spend the entire month watching nothing but horror films. Even though I do watch horror films all the time anyway but every time October comes around, it puts me in the spirit to watch even more them. When it comes to my horror film viewing list, I always like to have a particular theme with the type of films that I’ll be watching throughout October. There has been one particular theme that I’ve done over the pass couple of years and I plan on doing it this year once again. If you’ve been following me here on The Super Network over the pass few years, you’ll know which theme I’m talking about: “62 Horror Films In 31 Days”. For all of you out there who don’t know what this theme is, it’s pretty simple really. While most horror fans will be watching one horror film from their lists per day throughout October, I spice things up by watching two films everyday instead. However I do have some rules when it comes to my viewing list: 1. All the horror films have to be ones that I have never seen before, 2. 31 of the films have to be older ones made before the year 2010, 3. The other 31 films must be newer ones released in the pass 3 to 4 years, 4. Sequels are not allowed to be included, focus only on stand alone films. Having done this theme quite a few times in previous years , I always enjoy doing it because it gives me more opportunities to check out a lot more horror films that I hadn’t got around too seeing yet.
What I do like about my final selections is that it’s a mixture of many different types of horror films. There’s a little bit of everything: vampire, zombie, giallo, Aussie, ghost, Hammer, foreign, possession, slasher, Stephen King, found-footage, surreal, psychological, werewolves, comedy, Vincent Price, anthology, Universal Monsters and more. Also besides these 31 films I’ve chosen, I’ll also be adding a couple of bonus films (they will be a mixture of rewatches, special cinema screenings of older horror films and cinema releases of some new horror films) that I’ll be seeing on certain days too if I have the time to watch them (I do have to fit them both my work and personal life, you know). Now the question remains: will I be able to watch them all? well, stay tuned and find out!
