Bede’s Top 10 Worst Films Of 2015

BAD MOVIES

Hey everyone! If you remember over a week ago here on SuperMarcey.com, you might have my list that I wrote up of my top 10 films of 2015 (which you can read here). Also in that same article I promised that I would be posting another top 10 list a week later, this time on the worst films that I saw in 2015. Just like my best of 2015 list, I would have posted up my worst of 2015 list much sooner but I needed some extra time to catch up on some bad films that I didn’t get around to seeing from 2015, so I can see if any of them were *worthy* enough up to be on it. Now here it is, the list that you all have been waiting for: my top 10 worst films of 2015. Of course being the Terrible Australian, it was my official duty to write some kind of article up about some of the awful films that came out last year. While I did see a lot of awful films in 2015 but in my honest opinion, the 10 I’ve chosen for this list are truly the ABSOLUTE worst I were released during that year.

These are the ones that REALLY grinded my gears and the mere mention of names just sets me off with how much I hated them. What I think you all will find interested this list is that it’s a mixture of ones that you have heard of, others you may have had no idea they even existed and others you would actually been surprised to see on there. Now before I go into my final official top worst 10 of 2015, here’s another list of films that which surprisingly didn’t make it on there but were my dishonourable mentions for the year. Plus I have a special award dedicated to a film I consider the best worst film of 2015 (surprisingly, it’s a tie between two films this year!). Enjoy!

NOTE: I’ve only included films that were officially released in cinemas in either Australia, the U.K. or the U.S. in 2015 (however some films that I saw at film festivals this year won’t be included if they hadn’t had a theatrical release in either of those three countries yet).

SPECIAL AWARD: THE BEST WORST FILMS OF 2015 (tie):

THE BOY NEXT DOOR

(Dir: Rob Cohen)

Jennifer Lopez has starred in many really bad films over the years and this one is no different. However unlike most of the ones she’s appeared in, as this utterly clichéd erotic thriller is so unbelievably trashy and unintentionally hilarious that I couldn’t help but feel guilty that had a bit of fun with it.

JUPITER ASCENDING

(Dir: The Wachowskis)

Out of all the bad films that I’ve seen from 2015, this is one that I’ve always been drawn back to time and time again. While I do agree that this is definitely a bad film that truly doesn’t make any sense on any level but that being said, I have to admire how both its ambition and the complete utter insanity that happens through out it. The biggest compliment I can give this film is that unlike all the terrible films that came out in 2015, it’s definitely not boring. I can see this becoming a cult best worst movie in the future.

…And now onto my official top 10 worst films of 2015…

10. BLACKHAT

(Dir: Michael Mann)

Blackhat6-xlarge

While I give director Michael Mann credit for taking an authentic look at how computer hacking really works, that doesn’t this as being one of the worst he’s ever made. This is an extremely dull and terribly made action/thriller that wastes its talented cast. Plus Mann needs to stop using digital cameras ’cause this was the most visually ugly-looking film I saw in 2015.

9. DA SWEET BLOOD OF JESUS

(Dir: Spike Lee)

Da-Sweet-Blood-of-Jesus-Feb.-13

Spike Lee is one of those directors whose films can either hit or miss and this one is definitely belongs in the latter category. In fact it’s definitely up there as one of the worst films of his career. It’s a completely baffling, pretentious and badly made romantic horror/comedy that it feels like the work of an amateur than accomplished filmmaker. I get what Lee was going for, but it’s a terrible unfocused mess.

8. PAUL BLART: MALL COP 2

(Dir: Andy Flickman)

video-undefined-255FBC2900000578-312_636x358

I must admit that even though the first PAUL BLART: MALL COP film was a bad film, I didn’t think it was awful as everyone made it out to be. However watching this unnecessary second film, it somehow made the first film look like the greatest film ever in comparison. This was a completely unfunny and poorly made sequel that’s nothing more than a lazy cash in for everyone involved.

7. DO YOU BELIEVE?

(Dir: Jonathan M. Gunn)

moviestill16

While I’ve seen quite a few average to bad faith-based through out my life, but none of them have ever infuriated as much as this one has. It starts off the same as the others but as it goes along, it somehow gets more ridiculous and heavy-handed that it becomes a preachy terrible mess. As someone who’s a Catholic, that is saying a LOT. How they managed to get many well-known actors to appear in this, I’ll never know.

6. THE TRANSPORTER REFUELLED

(Dir: Camille Delamarre)

Just when I thought that the TRANSPORTER series couldn’t get any lower than the extremely dull 3rd film, I was proven wrong with this truly terrible 4th instalment/reboot. The plot was incredibly lazy, the action set pieces were forgettable and, worst of all, it was absolutely boring. Ed Skrein tries his best but sadly, he’s no Jason Statham that’s for sure.

5. MORTDECAI

(Dir: David Keopp)

Mortdecai-Movie-Review-Image-1

While Johnny Depp has definitely had a rough few years with some of his recent film choices, this is definitely without a doubt the worst one of the lot. This is a truly embarrassing, unfunny and cringe worthy comedy that perhaps the worst performance that Depp has delivered in his entire career. It’s a total disaster!

4. THE ASSASSIN

(Dir: Hou Hsiao-Hsien)

Every year there’s always that one film that every film critic hails as one of the best films of year but for me on the other hand, I absolutely hate it with a passion. *THIS* is that film. Despite it’s nice cinematography, it’s truly agonizing bore that has a muddled plot, poorly developed characters and dull fight scenes. I get what it was going for, it was a complete misfire. I honestly have no idea why my fellow critics love this film.

3. HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2

(Dir: Steve Pink)

hottubtimemachine1

While the first film wasn’t a great comedy by any means, it was still quite a funny and enjoyable one nonetheless. However everything that was done right in that film was completely destroyed in this agonizingly unfunny, cheap, mean-spirited and offensive piece of crap sequel. Plus they even the first film’s likeable characters into complete utter douche-bags. It’s one of the worst comedy sequels I’ve ever seen.

2. ACCIDENTAL LOVE

(Dir: Stephen Greene a.k.a. David O. Russell)

Accidental_love

After watching this political comedy/satire, I now completely understand why it’s been on the shelf for a couple of years and why director David O. Russell wanted to have his name taken off it. This film was such an absolute disaster on every single level, I honesty felt so sorry for the cast for being involved in it. It’s probably the one of the worst satires I have seen in my entire life.

1. THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 3 (FINAL SEQUENCE)

(Dir: Tom Six)

a7f29b0d-de7b-4110-9b93-41536ed22ce2-620x372

There’s no doubt in my mind that this film was single handily the ABSOLUTE worst film of 2015. While the 1first film was an average and the second film was awful, this third and final (thank God) film in the series is just complete utter trash in every single way. It’s a stupid, mean-spirited, disgusting, misogynistic, vile and extremely pretentious film that’s up there as one of the most truly agonizing experiences I’ve ever have with a film. Plus it has one of the worst performances in the history of cinema from lead star Dieter Laser. This is absolute abomination that belongs in the rubbish bin where it belongs. Seriously, this film and director Tom Six can go f**k themselves.

Well, there you have it. Those are my official top 10 worst films of 2015. Agree or disagree? Let your voices be heard in the comments below or on the official SuperMarcey.com Facebook page!
