Here are my Top 10 films of 2013 as of December 9th 2013. I will redo this list in January after I have seen more films. This is based solely on what I have seen and what has been released in Australia. Keep in mind this is my opinion and I am sure there will be many of you who disagree.
10.) The Great Gatsby
“There is no doubt this is going to be one of the most visually stunning films of 2013, the attention to detail is fantastic.”
9.) Gravity
“Gravity is a wonderful film to look at, it does make the audience feel like they are floating in space, and the story of survival at its core is both moving and highly engaging.”
8.) Blackfish
“A heartbreaking documentary that really makes you hate the human race and feel for the animals in capture.”
7.) Captain Phillips
“One of the most intense and white knuckle films of the year, and it’s all true!”
6.) Before Midnight
“Before Midnight is a beautiful film, and outstanding piece of cinema that will stand the test of time.”
5.) The Place Beyond The Pines
“At its core the film is about fathers and sons, nature vs. nurture, and how the actions we take can have huge consequences in all sorts of ways.”
4.) Prisoners
“A story of crime with incredible performances that will leave you hanging on its every move.”
3.) Only God Forgives
“Only God Forgives as hinted with that title presents a kind of Biblical tale about revenge, wrath, sin and absolute punishment.”
2.) Stoker
“A stunning looking film, with an incredible English language debut from Chan Wook Park.”
1.) Rush
“It does its job extremely well, its a highly engaging and entertaining film that tells a very important story.”
