RIP Paul Walker – (1973-2013) – A Tribute

Paul Walker RIP

It is always a sad time when someone passes away, whether we knew them or not, people have a way of affecting our lives in some way. Paul Walker was an actor and an activist for issues he believed in. He had an affect on me during my life, through the films he was in. It is extremely sad that he died in such a tragic way, an accident while he was a passenger in a car. Many will comment on how it is ‘ironic’ because he was the star of one of the most profitable action franchises with Fast And The Furious. But these things do happen unfortunately, people do die in all sorts of ways and it is always sad and tragic.

I felt the need to write up a little tribute in Paul’s honour and memory because he really did have an affect on me, and it was rather positive.

I don’t hide the fact that I have a lot of serious health issues, they affect my life on a day to day basis. In turn because of these issues and such I suffer from depression, badly. I have ever since I was a teen and it was then where I did first discover Paul Walker. He’s been a source of joy for me, through these rough times. I can’t even say how many times I watched She’s All That when it came out, he played the a-hole character and one that I enjoyed seeing get his comeuppance because in real life I never saw that happen.

The Skulls was one of the first films I ever owned on DVD, my mum brought it for me because she knew I liked both Paul and Joshua Jackson. I would watch this film all the time, it was a really good escape from my very dark head space. These early days with depression, I had actors like Paul Walker in my back pocket, whose films I’d watch over and over because I could relax and I could clear my mind. For a few moments things didn’t seem so bad.

With the Fast And Furious franchise, I would watch these films because I was a fan of Paul and they remain to be such fun. The ultimate type of escapism with cinema, these films came in handy when I needed to unwind and get rid of the darkness. Paul has remained a constant for me with my film watching and through his work my darkness temporarily got lifted.

He has always been a gorgeous actor, one with talent and a flair for getting my own attention. His films have left their mark, and while he may never have known, I want others to. May he rest in peace, a life taken too soon, you’ll be missed and thank you.

It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. – #TeamPW
