“Thursday 14th July 2011 —Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the final adventure of the film series based on the beloved books by J.K. Rowling, shattered box office records in Australia, earning $7,029,487 in its opening day, making this the highest opening day of all time. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 opened on 753 screens, with fans lining up for hours to be among the first to see the film. The opening weekend gross eclipsed the previous record of $5,289,477, set by Lord Of The Rings, Return Of The King.

Joel Pearlman, Roadshow Films Managing Director, stated, ―After a decade of Harry Potter films, the final film is truly a cultural event, and we’re thrilled to see this powerful response from such a broad range of moviegoers. These incredible results are a testament to the incredible achievement of the filmmakers, cast, and, of course, J.K. Rowling, and should ensure the film series’ place in history for years to come. The Harry Potter film series had already achieved the distinction of being the topgrossing film franchise of all time, a milestone it reached with the combined success of the first five films.
