Welcome back to The Super Podcast and another Movie Swap episode with your hosts Super Marcey, Bede Jermyn and returning guest Buddy Watson! So what is a Movie Swap? Well the hosts and guest each picked a film to give to the other – Marcey picked for Buddy, Bede Picked for Marcey and Buddy picked for Bede. The idea is to pick a film that the person hasn’t seen before and discuss! The theme for this Movie Swap was ‘Foreign Films From The 00s’.

This episode, Marcey gave Buddy the film The Twilight Samurai (2002) to watch, Bede gave Marcey the film Yesterday (2004) to watch and Buddy gave Bede the film Confessions (2010) to watch! The films may be quite different, however there are some similarities and they are award winners and contenders!

The Twilight Samurai was directed by Yôji Yamada and it stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Rie Miyazawa, Miki Ito, Reiko Kusamura, Erina Hashiguchi and Nenji Kobayashi
Plot Synopsis from IMDB: As the feudal Japan era draws to a close, a widower samurai experiences difficulty balancing clan loyalties, 2 young daughters, an aged mother, and the sudden reappearance of his childhood sweetheart.

Yesterday was directed by Darrell Roodt and it stars Leleti Khumalo, Lihle Mvelase, Pepi Khambule, Harriet Lenabe and Nandi Nyembe.
Plot Synopsis from IMDB: After falling ill, Yesterday learns that she is HIV positive. With her husband in denial and young daughter to tend to, Yesterday’s one goal is to live long enough to see her child go to school.

Confessions was directed by Tetsuya Nakashima and it stars Takako Matsu, Yoshino Kimura, Masaki Okada, Yukito Nishii, Kaoru Fujiwara and Ai Hashimoto.
Plot Synopsis from IMDB: A psychological thriller of a grieving mother turned cold-blooded avenger with a twisty master plan to pay back those who were responsible for her daughter’s death.
