Championship Match: Ultimate Warrior vs. ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage Boston Garden 02/11/1989
You could chose so many Ultimate Warrior matches and call them classics. But I’ve selected to feature this match for this edition of Match of the Day because I feel like it’s important to honor and emphasize the superstars no longer with us that will be remembered fondly die hard fans until we clock out. I can talk about the Hogan/Warrior match from WrestleMania VI all day, but the feud between Warrior and Macho Man was just as legendary in my eyes, these two sold the tension perfectly each time they stepped into the ring with one another. It’s gems like this match at the Boston Garden that would do a wrestling fan good to dig up, every match between two greats like Warrior and Savage is a great thing to study when you’re a prospective student, and something to get pumped up when you are fan. So if you haven’t seen this match, do so to absorb what made these gentlemen two of the greatest of all time.
