WWE Raw 12/6/2004: Trish Stratus vs. Lita for Women’s Championship
I was inspired to post this match after thinking back on last night’s RAW. An exciting turn of events transpired, with current NXT Diva’s Champion Paige making her RAW debut, and defeating AJ Lee for the Diva’s Championship promising us a hell of a feud going forward now how could I resist? This particular match is an unspoken gem for several reasons. Over the years Trish and Lita had become the equivalent of the Rock/Stone Cold feud for the women’s division. As such, they busted their ass for years to earn the MAIN EVENT spot in this particular RAW, and they did not disappoint. The match itself ran just under ten minutes long and had a couple moments that reminded us all these two women could hang with the best. Early on in the match Trish found herself on the outside, Lita met her by performing a suicide dive over the top rope landing awkwardly on her neck, but she didn’t miss a step. Another impressive feat comes from Lita once again with a superplex on Trish off the top rope. These women were athletic marvels, and they showcased it here. I’m a firm believer in not giving away the end of matches, so here it is for your viewing pleasure.
