The Losers

2.5/5
I will be quite frank to start off this review, I didn’t get into this film, I did actually close my eyes a few times. Unfortunately I found this to just not be all that interesting, and I was a little bored at times. I was actually excited to see this, it had an awesome trailer and a great cast. However this just did not do it for me, but that isn’t to say it was a bad film. It had its moments, but I do think The A-Team did it better. Their stories are actually quite similar, in The Loser’s a group of CIA black ops basically get double crossed and framed and they go about taking their revenge on the guilty party.
The good parts for me was mainly the cast, especially Chris Evans. He was his usual funny and charismatic self, always enjoyed him on screen. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was quite good as well, he makes for a good action man. Zoe Saldana wasn’t bad either but that girl needs a burger or two, no offense but it was hard to buy her as an ass kicker when she had no meat on her. Idris Elba was memorable as well, I really like his work. Jason Patrick was a lot of fun in the role of the bad guy, something he plays well and he made it fun. The team of The Losers had some good chemistry together, they bonded in a way that you could get behind this group.
The story isn’t nothing new, we’ve seen this so many times over. I just felt that The A-Team pulled if off much better and that film was more fun to watch and it didn’t really drag either. The Losers was a bit hard to follow at times, the pacing was all over the place. Some parts just didn’t make much sense, but other parts played together quite well. The action was pretty good for the most part, not as over the top as it could have been, which was actually a good thing. It just felt at times things were just all over the place, so I did find myself confused (this could also be because I closed my eyes a few times) but also a bit bored.
I can’t really recommend this film, but I wouldn’t say avoid it either. This one just kind of sits right there in the middle and maybe in time I will give it another chance. I also haven’t read the graphic novel this is based on, so I can’t say if it is a faithful adaptation or not.
