The King Zone Podcast – Episode 9: “An Outsider Knows An Outsider” Exploring HBO’s The Outsider Miniseries

Welcome to this Podcast series from The Super Podcast with The King Zone! This podcast series is all about the adaptations of Stephen King, from the cinematic films, mini series and TV movies!

Unfortunately your regular co-host ‘Super’ Marcey Papandrea wasn’t able to join this episode due to prior commitments but don’t worry, co-host Bede ‘The Terrible Australian’ Jermyn along with returning guest Rob Hunter from Film School Rejects took the reigns on episode 9 of The King Zone Podcast. In this one, we cover the critically acclaimed HBO produced miniseries The Outsider.

The Outsider (2020) was created, developed & executive produced by Richard Price and stars Ben Mendelsohn, Cynthia Erivo, Bill Camp, Paddy Considine, Julianne Nicholson, Mare Winningham, Jeremy Bobb, Yul Vazquez, Marc Menchaca and Jason Bateman (who also directed the first 2 episodes and executive produced the series), based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The miniseries tells the story of Ralph Anderson, a police detective who is put in charge of the brutal murder of a young boy in his small town. Based on both strong eye-witness testimony and forensic evidence, Anderson and local authorities believe that local little league baseball coach Terry Maitland is indeed the killer. However despite the damning evidence that links Terry to the crime scene, Ralph discovers new evidence that also proves that at the same time as the murder was being committed, Terry was out-of-town at a conference. How is it possible that Terry can be in two places at once?

NOTE: This episode of the podcast was recorded on May 22nd, a few days before the tragic murder of George Floyd by police and the Black Lives Matter protests that followed it. While that’s the reason these events weren’t mentioned during the episode itself, we of the Super Network decided to record a statement with our thoughts on them and placed it at the beginning of this episode before it starts.

Highlights include:

* Bede welcomes Rob back on the show!
