Now if you were going ask me what I honestly think is one of the hardest sub-genres of films to get right, believe it or not would surprisingly say romantic comedy. When you really think about it, it’s not hard to understand why. Even though there have been so many great romantic comedies made over the years but sadly most of the time, they always end up being either really mediocre or simply straight up bad. However every now and again one will come along that buckles that trend and deliver something that’s just as great as the classic romantic comedies of yesterday. One film that definitely falls into that category is the film THE BIG SICK, which co-written by lead star Kumail Nanjiani and produced by Judd Apatow (the man behind THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, KNOCKED UP, BRIDESMAIDS and BEGIN AGAIN). I saw the film over month back at early preview/media screening and I wanted to share my thoughts on it (due to covering MIFF and work, I didn’t get a chance to until now).
