Firstly this isn’t an easy movie to get through, the subject matter is quite disturbing and depressing. The fact that this was based on a real story makes it even more so. While it is a fictionalised account of that story (Based on the book of the same name) the main things which make this so disturbing is there. Basically its the story of a young boy, who meets a girl who he’s living next to. Her parents died and she along with her younger sister get sent to live with an aunt who has all boys. For whatever reason the aunt seems to hate the girls and slowly she gets tortured by the family shes staying with and their friends from the neighbourhood. The young boy next door, knows whats going on is wrong and wants to save her. Watching something like this is just a horrible reminder what there are some truly evil people in this world (Much like Alone With Her reminds you of this), and it is hard to understand the motives behind the actions of these people. This is not something for the weak at heart, you really need to be prepared for this, it will stick with you long after you’ve watched this.
